What are the requirements?
• Classes are open to 11th and 12th grade students • Students must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher • Students must successfully complete (C or better) one or more credits in an approved Mathematics class. • Pre or Co-requisite: Human Anatomy and Physiology • Minimum reading level of eighth (8th) grade What courses are available? Introduction to Medical Professions Education — This course emphasizes basic information and skills for a career in the health care field. Topics include: medical history & events, health care systems & careers, medical ethics, qualities of a successful health care worker, and nutrition & health. Medical Terminology — This course covers the basic terminologies used in health care professions. Students will understand medical words, their derivatives, and the formation of related terms. Medical Procedures — This course develops student abilities required in the health care profession. Emphasis is given to the compentencies in the following areas: safety, infection control, vital signs, CPR a& first aid, medical math, abbrevations, and charting.
